James Doten, PG CEP has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. James began their career in 1990 at Braun Intertec Corporation, where they served as a Manager/Senior Scientist and later as a Regional Manager/Principal. During their time there, they managed multiple offices, developed markets, and led a team of engineers, scientists, technicians, and support staff.

In 2002, James joined the US Army as a Mobilization NCO, where they played a crucial role in assisting the largest National Guard mobilization since World War II. James developed procedures to support the mobilization of over 12,000 Soldiers, contributing to the highest national post-9/11 acceptance rate onto Federal service.

James then served as a Liaison, KFOR NATO, representing a multi-national Brigade in a joint, multi-national NATO headquarters during peacekeeping operations. James demonstrated strong cross-cultural skills in achieving goals in this role.

In 2008, James returned to Braun Intertec Corporation as a Regional Manager/Principal. James managed three offices and a satellite operation in three states, opened two new office locations, and supervised a team of over 40 professionals.

From 2010 to 2022, James worked for the City of Minneapolis, first as an Environmental Inspector, enforcing environmental ordinances and developing environmental policy alternatives. James then became the Supervisor of Environmental Services, where they supervised the Environmental Services unit of the Minneapolis Health Department and facilitated staff work on pollution reduction initiatives. Most recently, they held the position of Carbon Sequestration Program Manager.

In 2011, James also had a role as a Hydrologist for the U.S. Army in Zabul Province, Afghanistan. James was responsible for watershed rehabilitation and irrigation improvements, and they developed an innovative and culturally appropriate irrigation water management training program for the Afghan government.

Following that, in 2012 to 2013, they obtained a Master's Degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the American Military University.

James also holds the "National Incident Management System" certification from FEMA, obtained in February 2012.
