Mark Allen Johnson has a diverse work experience in the emergency services field. Mark Allen started their career in 1993 as a Paramedic at Conway Regional Health System, where they managed patient care on emergency scenes and during transportation. In 1994, they joined the City of Memphis Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic, where they provided patient stabilization and care, triaged multiple patients, and responded to various emergency incidents. Mark also served as an Acting Battalion Chief periodically since 2008, commanding multiple company emergency responses and coordinating staffing and training. In 2002, they briefly worked as a Medical Cache Manager for Tennessee Task Force One, where they developed a database for tracking medical equipment and managed relationships with local hospitals. In 2019, Mark transferred to Engine 33 at Memphis International Airport to develop skills needed for Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) response. Additionally, Mark has a role with Tennessee Task Force One (TNTF-1)/DHS/FEMA Urban Search and Rescue, where they have served as a Medical Specialist since 1995, deploying to assist in disasters such as Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Harvey. Mark Allen has also been an adjunct Instructor for FEMA Medical Specialist training. In 2020, they transitioned to the position of Plans Manager at TNTF-1.

Mark Allen Johnson has a diverse educational background and a range of certifications. Mark Allen obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Operations Management and Supervision from the University of Arkansas, during the period of 2019 to 2021. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Communication and Media Studies from Trinity University from 1986 to 1990.

Additionally, Mark Allen Johnson holds an Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic) from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, which they acquired from 1991 to 1993.
