Sonya Patterson has extensive experience in parks, arts, recreation, and community services, currently serving as the Director of Parks, Arts, Recreation & Community Services for the City of Lancaster since November 2020. Prior to this role, Patterson held various positions at the City of Pico Rivera from November 2017 to November 2020, including Director of Parks & Recreation and Senior Recreation Manager. From October 2000 to November 2017, Patterson worked at the City of Downey, advancing from Recreation Manager to Interim Director of Parks & Recreation. Early career experiences include serving as Community Services Supervisor for the City of Santa Monica and various roles at the City of Lancaster, beginning as a Recreation Leader and Coordinator. Patterson's educational background includes study at California State University, Northridge, and Antelope Valley College, along with graduating from Antelope Valley High School.
