Penny Wright began their work experience as an Account Clerk at the City of Lansing in 1984. Penny then moved on to the State of Michigan, where they held various positions such as Office Assistant and Chief Accountant/State Administrative Manager/Senior Accountant Manager/Accounting Manager. In 2013, they became the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Financial & Administrative Services at the State of Michigan's Department of Insurance and Financial Services. Currently, they are the Finance Department Director at the City of East Lansing starting from 2023. Throughout their career, Penny has gained experience in budget development, revenue collections, contract administration, IT administration, and procurement, among other responsibilities.
