Elsie Taveras

Board Member, Boston Board Of Health at City of Boston

Elsie Taveras, MD, MPH, currently serves as a Board Member for the Boston Board of Health since April 2023 and holds the position of Chief Community Health & Health Equity Officer at Mass General Brigham since May 2021. Taveras is also the Conrad Taff Professor of Nutrition and Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, along with a role as Professor in the Department of Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Additionally, Taveras has been the Executive Director of The Kraft Center for Community Health since June 2017. Previous roles include Chief of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital, where Taveras served from 2013 to May 2021, and Associate Director of the Obesity Prevention Program at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care from 2007 to 2013. Taveras earned an MD from NYU Grossman School of Medicine, an MPH in Clinical Effectiveness from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a BS in Neuroscience from New York University.
