Colleston Morgan, Jr.

Colleston Morgan, Jr. has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles.

Colleston began their career in 2007 as a Corps Member at Teach for America, where they served as a High School Social Studies teacher at G.W. Carver High School in New Orleans, LA. Colleston continued to work at the school as a Teacher until 2009, during which time they also took on additional responsibilities such as serving as a member of the School Improvement Team, faculty sponsor for Student Council, and a grant-writer for the 9th Ward Field of Dreams project.

In 2011, Colleston joined the Louisiana Department of Education as a Consultant in the Superintendent's Delivery Unit, where they worked until 2012. During this time, they then moved on to the City of New Orleans as a Performance Manager in the Office of Performance & Accountability.

In 2012, they joined the Recovery School District as a Teacher at G.W. Carver High School once again. Colleston taught Civics and Economics for high school students and took on additional responsibilities outside the classroom.

Later in 2012, Colleston joined the Orleans Parish School Board and held various roles including Founding Director of Performance & Accountability in the Charter Schools Office, Executive Director of Policy, Performance & Accountability, and Chief Strategy Officer. Colleston worked in these positions until 2018.

In 2018, they joined Teach For America once again, this time as a Vice President. Colleston held this role until 2019.

Most recently, Colleston has been working for the City Forward Collective. Colleston started in 2019 as the Managing Director of Policy & Advocacy. Colleston then was promoted to Vice President, Strategy & Policy in 2022, and is currently serving as the Executive Director starting in 2023.

Colleston Morgan, Jr. completed their primary education at the University School of Milwaukee from 1996 to 2003, where they obtained their high school diploma. Colleston then pursued their higher education at Harvard University from 2003 to 2007, earning their A.B. degree in Government. Later, from 2009 to 2011, Morgan attended the University of Chicago, where they obtained a Master's degree in Public Policy. In 2009, they began their Master of Public Policy program at the University of Chicago, which they completed in 2011.
