Maarten Kraan has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, serving in various leadership roles. Maarten has worked as a Chief Medical Officer at Citryll and AM-Pharma, Director at CDS Advies BV, and Owner/Managing Director at CDS GmbH. Maarten has also contributed as a Board Member at Toleranzia AB and Vicore Pharma AB. Additionally, they have held positions such as Head of R&D at Pierre Fabre Pharmaceuticals and Stallergenes Greer, and as an Adjunct Professor of Rheumatology at Sahlgrenska Academy at Gothenburg University.

Maarten Kraan began their education in 1979 at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, where they earned a BSc in Physiotherapy. Maarten then went on to Leiden University, obtaining an MD in 1991. Maarten furthered their education at the same university with a Speciality Degree in Internal Medicine/Rheumatology in 1998. Eventually, they completed their PhD in Synovial Tissue analysis at Leiden University in 2000.
