James Peerless has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. James worked at Citrine Informatics from 2019 to the present, starting as a Data Scientist and eventually becoming a Senior Data Scientist and Strike Team Manager. In this role, they partnered with customers in the materials industry to utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to accelerate material design. James also led a customer-facing technical team and presented results directly to customer domain experts.

Prior to that, James was a Graduate Research Assistant at NC State University from 2014 to 2019. There, they conducted research on topics such as uncertainty quantification of atomistic partial charges, functionalized nanoparticles for nanoscale filtration, ligand adsorption on silica nanoparticle surfaces, and solvation of fullerenes in aromatic solvents.

From 2009 to 2014, James worked at GVD Corporation, starting as a Research and Design Co-op and progressing to the roles of Process Engineer and Systems and Applications Engineer. In these positions, they focused on improving thin-film chemical deposition processes, communication with customers, and optimization of coating materials.

James began their career in 2001 at Peerless Structures Inc, where they worked in residential construction for five years. James also has prior experience as an Analytical Co-op at Chemic Laboratories, Inc, and as a Spunbond Line Technician at Ahlstrom Nonwovens LLC in 2008 and 2007, respectively.

James Peerless has a strong education history that includes a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Materials Engineering from North Carolina State University, which they obtained from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University, attending from 2006 to 2011. James'seducational journey began at Northwest Catholic, where they completed their high school education from 2002 to 2006. In addition to their academic degrees, James also holds a certification as a Certified Scrum Product Owner® (CSPO®) from the Scrum Alliance, which they obtained in November 2021.
