Orhan Ocal has a diverse work experience in the field of quantitative research and technology development. Orhan started their career in 2011 as a Software Development Intern at Nortel Netas and later worked as a Research Intern at EPFL. In 2014, they joined IBM Research Zurich as a Master's thesis intern, where they focused on developing a beamforming method to improve sparse-signal recovery algorithms in radio astronomy.
In 2018, Orhan joined Intel Corporation as a Graduate Intern in Deep Learning Research, where they contributed to the development of a method for voice conversion using non-parallel speech data. Orhan then moved on to UC Berkeley in 2014 as a Graduate Student Researcher, working on various research projects until 2020. During their time at UC Berkeley, they also served as a Graduate Student Instructor for Designing Information Devices and Systems I.
In 2019 and 2020, Orhan returned to Citadel Securities as a Quantitative Researcher, showcasing their expertise in quantitative analysis and research. Overall, Orhan's work experience demonstrates their skills in research, technology development, and teaching.
Orhan Ocal began their education in 2003 at Robert College, where they pursued a Science Program until 2008. In 2008, they attended Istanbul Technical University for one year, focusing on Electronics Engineering. In 2009, Orhan enrolled at Boğaziçi University and completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2012. Orhan then pursued a Master of Science in Communication Systems at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2012 to 2014. Currently, Orhan is undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, with an expected completion date not yet specified.
