Alessandro Febretti has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of research engineering, software engineering, and interactive visualization. Alessandro is currently working at Citadel Securities as a Research Engineer, specializing in High Performance Computing. Prior to this role, Alessandro worked at Citadel as an R&D Engineer and Software Engineer, where they designed and maintained portfolio analytics tools for risk managers and investment teams.

Before joining Citadel, Alessandro worked at Northwestern University as a Senior Interactive Visualization Specialist, where they developed tools for scalable interactive visualization in Astrophysics and High-Energy Physics. Alessandro also taught workshops on web-based visualization and visualization design.

Additionally, Alessandro worked at the UIC Electronic Visualization Laboratory as a Research Assistant, focusing on Visualization Instrument research and human-computer interaction. Alessandro conducted research on hybrid immersive systems for scientific visualization and worked on desktop-based visualization tools.

Alessandro also has experience as a Mentor at the Spark Program and as a Game Programmer at Milestone s.r.l. In their role as a Game Programmer, they worked on gameplay, database, and multiplayer logic for worldwide-published games on various platforms.

Alessandro Febretti has a strong educational background in computer science and computer engineering. Alessandro obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2005. Alessandro continued their education by pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Chicago from 2006 to 2008, and concurrently earned a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano during the same period. Alessandro furthered their education by completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Chicago from 2009 to 2017.
