Brian F. has a diverse and extensive work experience. Brian is currently a Co-Founder at Cinder since March 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Fellow at New America starting in August 2013. From April 2016 to November 2021, Brian held a prominent role at Facebook as the Director of Counterterrorism, Dangerous Organizations, and Content Policy. Brian led a team of 15 experts and drove engineering and operational investments to counter terrorism and hate organizations.

Brian also has a background in research and academia. Brian authored the book "The Master Plan: ISIS, al Qaeda, and the Jihadi Strategy for Final Victory," which delved into the complex history of the Islamic State. Brian also served as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs, and Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. Additionally, Brian worked at the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point as the Director of Research, where they played a crucial role in the center's growth and taught courses on counterterrorism.

Furthermore, Brian has experience in emergency response and disaster relief. Brian worked at Palantir Technologies, where they developed a successful disaster response program and collaborated with NGOs and organizations such as the Clinton Global Initiative and Rockefeller Foundation.

Early in their career, Brian served as a Legislative Assistant for the Office of Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey. In this role, they advised the Congresswoman on foreign affairs, defense policy, and international trade and contributed to drafting legislation.

Overall, Brian F. has a strong background in counterterrorism, research, academia, and policymaking, with a particular focus on the Islamic State and counterterrorism efforts.

Brian F. obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, from 1997 to 2001. Their pursuit of higher education continued with a Masters of International Affairs in International Security Policy at Columbia | SIPA from 2003 to 2005.
