Sophie Howes serves as the Head of Policy at Child Poverty Action Group UK, a position held since July 2018, following experience as a Senior Policy and Research Officer. Prior roles include Fulbright Scholar at New York University and University College London, and Senior Advocate in Independent Mental Health Advocacy at Victoria Legal Aid. Sophie has also worked as a Senior Human Rights Officer at The British Institute of Human Rights and as an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate on secondment at Advance Advocacy. Earlier experience includes serving as a Research and Campaigns Officer at the National Federation of Women's Institutes and a Policy Advisor at the Women's National Commission. Sophie holds an Executive Master of Public Administration for Global Policy Leaders from NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a BA with Honours in History, Philosophy, and French from Newcastle University.
