Michael Evans is a skilled Senior Data Scientist at Chesapeake Conservancy, focused on applying deep learning, geoinformatics, and data science to address conservation challenges since January 2022. Previously, Michael served as a Senior Conservation Data Scientist at Defenders of Wildlife, where strategic use of remote sensing and machine learning advanced biodiversity conservation efforts. Earlier roles included positions as Conservation Data Scientist and Specialist, where Michael enhanced the implementation of the US Endangered Species Act through data analysis and visualization tools. Michael's foundational research work includes a PhD in Natural Resources Management and Policy from the University of Connecticut, a Master's in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University at Buffalo, and a Bachelor's in Biology from Oberlin College.
