Heather Howley

Heather Howley has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and industries. Starting in 2001, they worked as a Research Coordinator at the Ottawa Health Research Institute, specializing in Thrombosis. In 2003, they moved to the University of Ottawa, where they held the position of Research Coordinator for Genetics Health Services. In 2008, Heather joined Accreditation Canada as a Research and Product Development Specialist, and later transitioned into the role of Health Services Research Specialist.

In 2016, Heather took on a self-employed role as a Science Writer, engaging in various projects related to genetics, genomics, and rare disease. During the same year, they also joined the CHEO Research Institute as a Research Funding Development Officer, responsible for securing large-scale grant funding and improving the quality of grant submissions. Over time, they progressed within the organization, holding positions such as Manager of Research Development and Research Development Lead.

Currently, Heather serves as the Director of Precision Health Analytics Research at the CHEO Research Institute. In this role, they focus on growing precision analytics research in clinical care and population health by initiating new initiatives and building partnerships with strategic stakeholders. Additionally, they support competitive precision medicine research applications and fosters relationships with various organizations and institutions.

Heather Howley pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Guelph, which they completed from 1992 to 1996. Heather then went on to achieve their Master of Science degree in Physiology at the University of Ottawa, where they were enrolled from 1996 to 2000. Finally, Heather Howley engaged in further learning at the University of Ottawa from 2000 to 2002 as a Special Student in Epidemiology, although the specific field of study during this period is not mentioned.
