Michael Ord has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Michael started their career in the Royal Navy as an Engineering Officer and served from 1985 to 1996. After that, they joined GKN Aerospace as a Senior Engineering Manager from 1996 to 1999. Michael then moved to BAE Systems and held several management positions, including Senior Engineering Manager, Head of Commercial, Programme Director, Managing Director of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Business, and Managing Director of the Naval Ships Business, from 1999 to 2018. In 2016, they also served as a Non-Executive Director at the Aircraft Accessories and Components Company until 2018. Currently, they are the Group Chief Executive at Chemring since 2018 and works as a Non-Executive Director at TT Electronics plc starting from 2023.
Michael Ord has an extensive education history. In 1993, they attended the University of Plymouth and earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Systems Engineering, which they completed in 1996. In 2002, they attended Alliance Manchester Business School and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, which they finished in 2005. Later, from 2008 to 2010, Ord attended Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where they pursued a Strategic Leadership Programme. After that, from 2015 to 2016, they studied at Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business, where they completed the Corporate Leadership Programme. Finally, in 2017, they attended Harvard Business School to take part in the Advanced Management Programme. It should be noted that the degree field for the Corporate Leadership Programme and Strategic Leadership Programme is not specified.
