Rui Araújo Gomes has work experience at Checkmarx and Digito Solutions.

At Checkmarx, Rui started as a Summer Intern in Application Security Research in August 2021, and later returned to work as a Software Engineer in May 2023. As a Software Engineer, Rui contributed to the development and improvement of CxSAST, Checkmarx's flagship product, by researching and incorporating programming language updates to enhance the parser, developing and updating queries to flag vulnerabilities, evaluating vulnerabilities findings, understanding and exploiting vulnerabilities in different programming languages, developing internal tools and scripts for automation, and writing documentation for knowledge transfer. Rui also contributed to KICS, an open-source product of Checkmarx, by developing an automated documentation feature for KICS queries.

During Rui's time at Digito Solutions, while studying, Rui worked as a Full-stack Developer from October 2020 to September 2021. In this role, Rui actively contributed to website creation from inception to deployment, specializing primarily in backend development using NodeJS. Rui also assisted with frontend tasks when required using HTML/CSS/JS, worked with both relational (MySQL) and non-relational (MongoDB) databases, utilized various APIs, including payment and email APIs, to enhance website functionalities, and deployed websites in Virtual Machines hosted on Digital Ocean.

Rui Araújo Gomes pursued their education at the Universidade do Minho. From 2018 to 2021, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Management of Information Systems. Following this, they continued their education at the same institution and is currently working towards a Master's degree in Engineering and Management of Information Systems, with an expected completion date in 2023.

In addition to their academic achievements, Rui Araújo Gomes obtained a certification in Learning RabbitMQ from LinkedIn in March 2023.
