Laurie Posner is dedicated to work that addresses social and structural inequities — and promotes justice, opportunity and inclusion. She brings to the Mott Foundation a broad, cross-disciplinary background in communications, community-based problem solving and the development of actionable knowledge that fuels public engagement and action.
Posner has held leadership positions in U.S.-based education, disability rights and youth-serving nonprofits and social policy research centers. Passionate about the transformational power of public media, education and the arts, Posner has chaired and served on the boards of nonprofits working in the areas of integrated dance; youth-led design and media; and public radio. She also has served as a volunteer with community-driven projects in Nicaragua and El Salvador and as a peer reviewer for an international research journal on community-based technology solutions.
Posner received a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from the Hutchins School at Sonoma State University in California, and a master’s degree in public administration from the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College in New York.
