Hunter Smith has been active in the brewing industry since 2012 when they founded and became CEO of Champion Brewing Company, LLC. In 2016, they assumed the role of Chair of the Government Affairs Committee of the VA Craft Brewers Guild at the Virginia Manufacturers Association. In 2018, they became a Board of Directors member of the New Hill Development Corporation. In 2017, they became the Proprietor of Brasserie Saison, and in 2020, they opened Passiflora and assumed the role of Proprietor.

Hunter Smith attended Northeastern University from 2004 to 2006, studying Music Industry. Hunter then attended the University of Phoenix from 2008 to 2010, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Business, Management - Marketing. Finally, they attended the Siebel Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2011, where they earned a Certificate of Brewing Science and Technology.
