Mafalda de Arrábida Farelo, PhD, is a Research Grant Manager at the Champalimaud Foundation and the founder of The Lab Notebook, a science communication project on Instagram aimed at enhancing science literacy. Extensive experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship in vaccine development at City of Hope, along with a Public Policy Fellowship at The American Association of Immunologists where advocacy for NIH funding was emphasized. Postdoctoral research conducted at the University of California, Riverside focused on emerging viruses and immune responses. Academic roles included guest lecturing in Microbiology and Biochemistry at Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal, along with practical instruction at the University of Surrey during a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Additional research experience encompasses training at the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Biopharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Lisbon.
