Héctor Fernández has worked in a variety of roles since 2006. Héctor began their career at Software AG as a Business Analyst and Architect, where they managed a team of six developers and was responsible for analyzing requirements with business users and developing a framework J2EE for the Principado of Asturias Government. In 2009, they earned a Phd in Distributed Systems from INRIA. From 2012 to 2014, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In 2014, they joined ElasticBox as an Engineer. Héctor then worked at Giant Swarm as a Software Engineer from 2015 to 2017. During that time, they also worked at Red Hat as a Principal Software Engineer. In 2017, they joined Mesosphere as a Kubernetes Senior Engineer and in 2018, they joined D2iQ as a Staff Engineer. Most recently, in 2021, they joined VMware as a Technical Lead and in 2022, they joined Chainguard, Inc as a Software Engineer.
Héctor Fernández completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Universidad de Oviedo between 2001 and 2005. Héctor then earned a Master in Web Engineering from the same university in 2008. From 2009 to 2012, they pursued a Phd in Computer Science at Universit\u00e9 de Rennes I. Finally, Héctor Fernández completed a Postdoctorate in High Performance Computing at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) from 2012 to 2014.
