Benjamin Burress

Experience Content Developer at Chabot Space & Science Center

Benjamin Burress has amassed extensive experience in the fields of astronomy and science communication over several decades. Currently, as a Freelance Writer for KQED since May 2005, Benjamin produces biweekly articles focused on space sciences and astronomy. Concurrently, as an Experience Content Developer at the Chabot Space & Science Center since July 1999, Benjamin develops science content for various public outreach and education programs and has produced nineteen full-dome digital planetarium shows. Previous roles include Head Observer at Lowell Observatory (1996-1999), where Benjamin was responsible for operating an optical interferometer, and Observing Assistant/Lead Observer at NSI Technology Services (1989-1996), facilitating astronomical observations. Early career experience includes serving as a Peace Corps volunteer, teaching physics and mathematics in Cameroon. Benjamin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Sonoma State University, earned between 1981 and 1985.
