Erik Gijsman has been working in the software engineering field since 1999. From 1999-2003, they worked as a Software Engineer at Ordina TTI Technical Automation. Erik then moved to PROCOS Embedded B.V. in 2003, also as a Software Engineer. In 2004, they began working at Distel Software as a Software Engineer, developing ICT solutions in Glastuinbouw and Prefab-beton. From 2005-2010, they worked at SDB Professionals as a Software Engineer, automating business-critical processes in the government and services sector. Finally, they moved to Verklizan in 2010, where they worked as a Senior Software Engineer developing a platform for personal alarm systems in home care. Erik currently works at CERTUS Port Automation as a Senior Software Engineer, developing and providing systems that register containers entering and leaving a container terminal, with as much automation as possible.

Erik Gijsman attended Hogeschool Utrecht from 1995 to 1999, where they obtained a HTS in Industriëble Automatisering. Prior to that, they attended Rembrant S.G., Leiden from 1990 to 1995, where they obtained a HAVO. In 2009, they obtained an MCPD certification from Microsoft.
