Phil Butler

Team Leader For Canterbury, CMS Experiment at CERN

Phil Butler has a substantial background in scientific leadership and academia, currently serving in multiple roles at MARS Bioimaging Ltd since 2007, including Chief Technology Officer and Convenor of the Science Advisory Board. Additionally, Phil Butler has been involved with CERN as Team Leader for the Canterbury CMS experiment since 2002. A notable figure in the educational sector, Phil Butler was a Professor and Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Canterbury until retirement in October 2021, while also contributing to HIT Lab NZ and the National Science-Technology Roadshow Trust.
