Damjana Kastelic

Head Of Training And Academic Office at Centre for Genomic Regulation

Damjana Kastelic has several years of experience in the scientific research field. Damjana worked at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) from 2016 to present as the Head of Training and Academic Office and previously as the Training Coordinator. Their responsibilities included organizing training activities for the scientific community, managing teaching facilities, organizing international scientific courses, providing career and development advising for early career researchers, and delivering Train-the-Trainer courses. Prior to their time at CRG, Damjana worked as a Research Fellow at the DKFZ German Cancer Research Center from 2013 to 2016 and at The Babraham Institute from 2010 to 2012.

Damjana Kastelic has a strong academic background in the field of science. Damjana completed their PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, and biotechnology at Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) from 2005 to 2009. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science at Anglia Ruskin University from 2011 to 2013. As an Erasmus exchange student, they also studied Pharmaceutical Biology at Heidelberg University in 2001 and 2002. Earlier in their education, Damjana earned a Dipl. Ing. of Agronomy degree from the Biotechnical faculty at the University of Ljubljana, where they studied from 1996 to 2001.
