Balachandran Kasu is an Assistant Research Officer at Central Water And Power Research Station since September 2011, specializing in Basic and Applied research in applied Physics and Civil Engineering. Responsibilities include evaluating engineering properties of concrete, epoxy, sealants, and cementitious repair materials against standard codes to determine their suitability for strengthening and repairing hydraulic structures. Balachandran has conducted field investigations to assess the structural health of various hydraulic structures, such as dams and tunnels, while suggesting and monitoring rehabilitation strategies. Previously, Balachandran served as an Adhoc Lecturer at the National Institute of Technology from December 2010 to May 2011, where tasks included analyzing research samples using advanced microscopy techniques and conducting practical classes. Academic qualifications include a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Nanotechnology from Mepco Schlenk Engineering College and a Master’s degree in Physics from Govt. Arts College, Udumalpet, Tamil Nadu.
