Eggert Thorarinsson began their work experience in 2007 as an Analyst in the Market Risk Department at Landsbanki Íslands hf. Eggert then moved on to work as a Senior Advisor at The Farmers Association of Iceland in 2009. In the same year, they also started working as a Lecturer at the University of Iceland, where they continued until 2015. In 2010, they began their career at the Central Bank of Iceland, starting as a Specialist in the Financial Stability Department. In 2017, they were promoted to the role of Deputy Director in the same department, where they currently work.
Eggert Thorarinsson completed their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Iceland from 2000 to 2003. Eggert then pursued their Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Iceland and the Technical University of Karlsruhe from 2003 to 2006. Most recently, from 2015 to 2016, they obtained a Master's degree in Finance from the University of Cambridge.
