Al Payton is a seasoned professional in safety and technical training with extensive experience in leadership roles across the energy and manufacturing sectors. Currently serving as the Vice President of Safety and Technical Training at CenterPoint Energy since November 2013, Al Payton is responsible for developing and implementing safety strategies to protect the workforce and assets. Previous roles include Director of Distribution Operations for the Central Region and Director of Safety & Technical Training at CenterPoint Energy, as well as Director of Employee, Contractor & Public Safety at Igloo Products Corp. Al Payton's earlier experience includes managerial positions at Texas Gas Service and Westinghouse Anniston, with foundational roles in safety and health at Anniston Army Depot and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. Al Payton holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from Alcorn State University and a Certificate in Safety Program Management from the U.S. Army Safety Center.
