Shane Correia

Deputy Director of Government Partnerships at Center for Court Innovation

Shane Correia is the deputy director of government partnerships at the Center for Court Innovation. There he provides strategic support to the Center and its programs in government relations, external affairs, and new partner development. Prior to this role, he worked at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office in the Planning and Analysis Unit where he leveraged data to create efficiencies in the arrest-to-arraignment time, case processing, and support for victims and their families related to sexual assault, domestic violence and intra-familial or gang-related homicide.

In 2018, he organized partners, and secured funding, to create a program that will assist victims of domestic violence strangulation to prevent future homicide by increasing accountability for defendants and assistance for victim-partners. This included partnering with the Anti-Violence Project to ensure Bronx Law Enforcement is trained to work with the LGBTQ community. Additionally, he drafted and shepherded a policy that became the first in the country to be recognized as compliant with a federal regulation related to speedy HIV testing of defendants indicted for forcible sexual assault permitting timely treatment access for both victims and defendants.
