Mary Kuhn began their work experience in 1980 as a Legislative Assistant for the US House of Representatives. Mary then transitioned to the corporate sector, holding various communication roles at Pacific Gas and Electric Company from 1985 to 2000. During this time, they developed communication strategies for public concerns and conducted media relations for various events. From 2000 to 2011, Mary worked as a Senior Communication Consultant at CSAA Insurance Group, providing executive communication support and producing leadership events. Mary then joined AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah as an Internal Communication Manager/Senior Communications Consultant, where they built a small internal communication team and facilitated connectivity between employees and the organization's purpose. Mary later served as the Communications Manager for Compensation and Benefits at Kaiser Permanente from 2014 to 2016. Currently, they are the Deputy Chief of Communication at Catholic Charities East Bay, where they oversee the organization's communication efforts.

Mary Kuhn, Accredited Business Communicator, obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis, which they attended from 1976 to 1980.
