Stian Nilsen has a diverse work experience with a focus on digital marketing and design. Stian started their career as a web and graphic designer at Innovation Studios in 2006, and then moved on to work as a web, graphic, and 3D designer at 360 Interaktiv from 2008 to 2010. In 2010, they joined Point Carbon Thomson Reuters as a webmaster and corporate design responsible. Stian then worked at Thomson Reuters from 2011 to 2017, where they held various roles including online and creative specialist and proposition marketing manager. At Thomson Reuters, they managed marketing projects, designed and deployed marketing campaigns, supported sales engagement, produced marketing materials, managed external agencies, and developed strategies for social media and web design. In 2017, Stian became the global digital marketing manager at Minitab, where they spent a year before joining CatalystOne Solutions in 2018 as a digital marketing manager.

Stian Nilsen has a diverse education history. In 2018, they obtained a Strategic Marketing Diploma from CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing, focusing on the field of Marketing. Prior to this, they completed a Bachelor's degree in Interactive Media and Design from Høgskolen i Hedmark (HH) between 2005 and 2008. In 2004, they studied English grammar and society at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) for a year, while in 2003 they took a basic Spanish course at Esquela D’Espagnol, Antigua. Additionally, in 2002 and 2003, Stian Nilsen pursued their interest in photography at Nordmøre Folkehøgskule.

Stian Nilsen also has an additional certification, the Financial Markets Foundation Qualification (FMFQ), which they obtained from the ICMA Centre in June 2017.
