Stephan Riess has a diverse work experience in the field of product design and user experience. Stephan is currently the Head of Product Design at casavi GmbH since January 2023. Prior to this, from July 2021 to December 2022, they worked as the Lead IT Consultant UI/UX at MaibornWolff GmbH.
Before that, Stephan was actively seeking new design/UX opportunities from July 2020 to June 2021. From May 2019 to June 2020, they held the position of Head of UX & Design at censhare, where they re-built the design team, developed a product vision, and implemented a cloud-based design system.
Stephan has a long tenure at 1&1 Mail & Media Applications SE - WEB.DE | GMX | 1&1 | mail.com, where they worked from August 2004 to April 2019 as the Head of UX and Design. Stephan played a key role in building and running the design team and implementing agile methodologies. Stephan also developed innovative business ideas and brands through design thinking and user-centered product development workshops.
Earlier in their career, Stephan worked as a Usability Expert at 1und1 from November 2003 to July 2004. Stephan also gained valuable experience as a Senior Designer at Amazon.de from February 2000 to May 2003, focusing on designing and enhancing the user experience of international Amazon websites.
Stephan started their career as a self-employed Web and Media Designer from January 1998 to 2000. Throughout their professional journey, they have displayed strong leadership skills, expertise in UX strategy development, and a proven track record of successful team management and implementation of design systems.
Stephan Riess attended Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences from 1989 to 1994, where they obtained a Dipl. Ing. degree in Architecture. In addition to their formal education, Stephan has also earned several certifications. In 2015, they became Optimizely Platform Certified. In 2020, they obtained the Certified Scrum Product Owner® (CSPO®) certification from Scrum Alliance. Most recently, in November 2021, Stephan earned a UX Certificate from Nielsen Norman Group.
