Konstantinos Lazarou, Ph.D. has a diverse range of work experience in the field of chemistry. From 2021 to the present, they have been working as an Information Scientist at CAS, where they curate and analyzes scientific publications and patents in the area of Inorganic and Organometallic chemistry. In this role, they also contribute to the improvement and growth of CAS' collection of products.
Prior to joining CAS, from 2019 to 2020, Konstantinos worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oregon. Here, they synthesized and characterized new photoredox-active metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with earth-abundant metal sites. Konstantinos demonstrated the fine-tuning of their electronic band structure through the substitution of heterometals and introduced a model for calculating band gaps in photo-active metal-organic frameworks.
Before their postdoctoral position, Konstantinos served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Florida International University from 2014 to 2019. In this role, they optimized synthetic procedures, resulting in higher yields, purity, and reproducibility of compounds for the research group. Konstantinos also synthesized and fully characterized a series of octanuclear iron-oxo-pyrazolate complexes with terminal phenolate ligands, showcasing their ability to fine-tune their electrochemical potential through structural variations of the ligands.
Additionally, during their time at Florida International University, Konstantinos also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant from 2015 to 2019, gaining teaching experience alongside their research contributions.
Konstantinos Lazarou, Ph.D. obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Inorganic Chemistry from Florida International University, completing their studies from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Bioinorganic Chemistry from the University of Ioannina, with an end year of 2010. Konstantinos'sundergraduate education was also completed at the University of Ioannina, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with an end year of 2008.
In addition to their formal education, Konstantinos has obtained several certifications. In April 2021, they completed the "Introduction to Quantum Computing" certification from LinkedIn, and in March 2021, they obtained certifications in "Artificial Intelligence Foundations: Machine Learning," "Critical Thinking for Better Judgment and Decision-Making," "Cultivating a Growth Mindset," "Effective Listening," "Learning MATLAB," "Learning R," and "Python Quick Start," all from LinkedIn. Konstantinos also obtained the "Smarter experimentation for scientists and engineers: online training program on design of experiments" certification from JMP in March 2021.
