Adam Sanford has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Adam started their career in 2006 as the Lead Scientist at the Spectroscopy Center of Excellence in Celanese, where they worked until 2008. From 2008 to 2011, they served as the Leader of the Advanced Materials Laboratory at Celanese, where they focused on team development, laboratory expansions, and quality systems. Adam then became the Global R&D Leader for High Performance Polymers and the Innovation Portfolio Manager at Celanese from 2011 to 2013, successfully implementing value analysis methodologies and driving cross-functional projects. From 2013 to 2015, they were the Corporate Strategy Leader for Global Innovation at Celanese. From 2014 to 2016, Adam worked as the Senior Global Manager for Medical & Specialized Applications at Celanese, where they led the management of programs and teams and was responsible for the segment's strategy. In 2016, they joined CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) as the Corporate Innovation Director, responsible for driving innovation. Adam then took on the role of Director of Product (Life Sciences Portfolio) at CAS in 2018. Since 2019, they have also been a Member of the Board of Directors at InChI Trust, a nonprofit charity focused on developing and promoting the use of the IUPAC InChI open-source chemical structure representation algorithm.
Adam Sanford earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Fredonia from 1997 to 2000. Adam then pursued a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus on Organic/Bio-organic Chemistry at the University at Buffalo from 2000 to 2005. Later on, from 2009 to 2012, Adam completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Organizational Leadership from NKU Graduate Education.
