Barrett Blaker has significant experience in urban studies and supportive housing. Currently serving as a Supportive Housing Intern at Caritas of Austin since August 2017, Barrett emphasizes a Housing First approach to assist chronically homeless and disabled populations, connecting clients with employment services and mental health resources. As an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Texas since 2015, Barrett has engaged in various projects, including participatory planning instruction in Mexico and researching the impacts of neoliberal tourism in Brazil. Prior experience includes a civil engineering internship at CB&I, where Barrett contributed to the creation and organization of manufacturing specifications and construction documents. Barrett earned a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Studies/Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a Distinguished Diploma in STEM from Woodrow Wilson High School.
