Sum Ying (Annie) Chiu has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of scientific research and development. Sum Ying (Annie) is currently working as a Principal Scientist at CARGO Therapeutics since May 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Principal Scientist, Process Development at Nkarta, Inc. from August 2021 to May 2022, and Senior Scientist, Process Development from April 2020 to July 2021.

Before joining Nkarta, Inc., Annie worked at Orchard Therapeutics as a Process Development Scientist II, Cell and Gene Therapy Technologies from January 2018 to March 2020, and as a Senior Cell Therapy Process Development Associate from July 2017 to December 2017. Sum Ying (Annie) also gained experience as a Scientist at OncoMed Pharmaceuticals from December 2016 to April 2017. Additionally, they worked as a Summer Intern at OncoMed Pharmaceuticals from June 2016 to September 2016.

Annie began their career as a Graduate Researcher at the University of California, Davis in September 2010, where they conducted research in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Cell Biology. Sum Ying (Annie) also served as a Research Technician II at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center from July 2007 to September 2010. Prior to that, they worked as an Undergraduate Intern at the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute from June 2006 to June 2007, and as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Washington from June 2005 to June 2006.

Throughout their career, Annie has worked on various projects related to cell and gene therapy, cancer research, and molecular biology. Sum Ying (Annie)'sexpertise and experience make their a valuable asset in the field of scientific research and development.

Sum Ying (Annie) Chiu began their education journey in 2003 at the University of Washington. Sum Ying (Annie) graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology. After their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education and enrolled at the University of California, Davis in 2010. Sum Ying (Annie) completed their PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology in 2016.
