Additionally, McDermott is a Board Member at PermianLide (Permian Tank), a manufacturing and distribution company. Jim is the Founder & Lead Investor of Kenlach Carbon and Co-Founder & Lead Investor of Carbon Ridge. McDermott is an Investor in Remora and Carbonvert Inc., both companies focused on carbon capture and storage projects. Jim is a Board Observer & Investor at Moleaer Inc., a technology company specializing in nanobubble aeration. Finally, McDermott is an Investor in LevelTen Energy and the Founder & Board Member of Ascent Capital Holdings, LLC, a special purpose investment vehicle.

Jim McDermott completed their education in a chronological order as follows:

From 1976 to 1983, they attended Bush, The Helen Bush School, where they obtained their Middle School degree.

Between 1983 and 1987, they attended Lakeside Highschool, earning their High School Diploma.

From 1988 to 1991, Jim McDermott studied at Colorado College, completing their undergraduate studies and obtaining their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Philosophy.

Lastly, they pursued further education at UCLA Anderson School of Management, where they earned their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business, completing their studies from 1995 to 1997.
