Mark Earnest has a strong background in quality assurance and food safety. Mark started their career as a Health Inspector at the Metro Health Department Davidson County in 1991 and worked there until 2001. From 2001 to 2003, they worked as a Field Rep at NSF International. Mark then moved on to Johnson Diversey where they served as a Field Representative from 2003 to 2006. Mark joined Cracker Barrel in 2006 as a Quality Assurance & Food Safety Manager, a position they held until 2012. In 2012, they became the Sr Director of Quality Assurance at Captain D's and was promoted to Vice President of Quality Assurance in 2019. At both Cracker Barrel and Captain D's, Mark was responsible for managing all aspects of food safety and developing systems to approve domestic and international suppliers.
From 1985 to 1989, Mark Earnest attended Tennessee Technological University, where they received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science.
