Craig Butler

Plant Manager at Capital Power

Craig Butler has extensive work experience in the power generation industry. Craig started their career as a Plant Operator at Weldwood of Canada from 1996 to 2003. Craig then worked as a Chief Power Engineer at Sundance Forest in 2004. Craig also served as an Operator at Talisman Energy from 2004 to 2007. After that, they joined AV Nackawic as a Shift Engineer from 2007 to 2009. Craig then joined Capital Power in 2009 and held several roles, including Chief Power Engineer, Plant Manager, Senior Production Manager for Genesee Unit 3, and Senior Manager of Genesee Production. During their time at Capital Power, they were responsible for managing operations, maintenance, budgeting, and long-term planning for various power generation units. Craig is certified as a National Board Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector, Alberta In-Service certificate holder, and a 1st Class Power Engineer.

Craig Butler attended Fundy High School from 1988 to 1991, where they obtained their high school diploma. Craig then pursued further education in the field of Power Engineering and completed a 1st Class Power Engineer degree at ABSA. Additionally, they acquired expertise in Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspections through certificates obtained at ABSA and the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.
