John Shaw has a diverse background in the insurance industry, specializing in underwriting for construction and engineering. Their most recent position was with Canopius Group, where they worked as a Construction and Engineering Underwriter starting in May 2018. Prior to that, they held roles at QBE Insurance as an Underwriting Manager for Northern Australia and a Senior Construction Underwriter. John also worked as a Construction and Engineering Underwriter at QBE European Operations. Before joining QBE, John gained experience as an Engineering and Construction Underwriter at HDI-Gerling Industrial Insurance - London and began their insurance career as an Assistant Underwriter at Allianz. Their professional journey spans from 2007 to the present.

John Shaw completed their Master's Degree in Insurance & Risk Management at Cass Business School from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they attended Sheffield Hallam University from 2001 to 2004, where they studied Law. Additionally, John has obtained the degree of Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute from the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII).
