Kumanan Wilson

Chief Scientific Officer at CANImmunize

Kumanan Wilson has an extensive work experience that spans over several prestigious organizations and roles. Kumanan is currently serving as a Scholar at the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law since 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief Executive Officer/Chief Scientific Officer at the Bruyère Research Institute starting from 2022.

Kumanan has also worked at Bruyère as the Vice President Research & Academic, where they played a significant role in digital health. Before joining Bruyère, Kumanan served as the Chief Scientific Officer and later became the Chief Executive Officer at CANImmunize from 2019 to 2022.

In addition to their corporate positions, Kumanan is involved in academic institutions and has made valuable contributions. Kumanan is currently holding the position of Faculty of Medicine Clinical Research Chair in Digital Health Innovation at the University of Ottawa since 2020.

Other notable roles include being a Professor of Medicine at the University of Ottawa since 2008, an Internal Medicine Physician and a Research Chair in Public Health Innovation at The Ottawa Hospital from 2008 to 2018, a Senior Scientist and a Canada Research Chair in Public Health Policy at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute from 2008 to 2013.

Kumanan started their career at the University of Toronto and University Health Network as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Medicine and an Internal Medicine Physician, respectively, from 2001 to 2008. Kumanan also served as a Clinical Scholar/Internal Medicine Physician at the Ottawa Hospital, University of Ottawa from 1998 to 2001.

Kumanan Wilson completed their education history as follows:

- From 1997 to 1998, they pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McMaster University.

- Prior to that, they attained a FRCP(C) degree in Internal Medicine from Western University from 1993 to 1997.

- In 1989, they earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Western University.

- Lastly, from 1986 to 1989, they studied and received a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with a focus on Biology, General, from the University of New Brunswick.
