Lawrence Mandel is an experienced technology leader currently serving as Vice President of Engineering at Shopify since October 2017, with previous roles as Director of Engineering for Money and Director of Production Engineering for Developer Acceleration. In addition, Lawrence has been a board member at CanadaHelps since November 2018. Prior to Shopify, Lawrence held various engineering leadership positions at Mozilla from 2011 to 2017, including Director of Engineering, Releases and Engineering Productivity, and Senior Manager of Firefox Releases. Lawrence's career started at IBM, where roles spanned from Software Developer to Project Manager for Rational Insight, accumulating extensive experience in engineering productivity, release management, and software architecture. Lawrence holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science, specializing in Software Engineering from Western University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Human Biology from the University of Toronto.
