Joy Hatch has extensive work experience in information technology leadership roles. Joy'smost recent position was as the Vice President for Information Technology/CIO at Fairmont State University, which they held from June 2019 to the present. Prior to that, they served as a Senior IT Executive at CampusWorks, Inc. starting in March 2017. From January 2015 to March 2017, they were the Vice President for Technology at Fort Hays State University. Joy also held the position of Vice Chancellor for Information Technology at the Virginia Community College System from December 2008 to February 2015. Earlier in their career, they served as the Vice President for Information Technology at Harford Community College from 2004 to 2008, and as the Chief Information Officer at Bellarmine University from 2001 to 2004. Furthermore, they worked at Friends University from 1998 to 2001 as the Chief Information Officer and from 1996 to 1998 as the Director of Academic Computing. Joy began their career at Yingling Aviation as the Chief Flight Instructor from 1993 to 1996.
Joy Hatch obtained a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University, with a duration of study from 1995 to 1998. Prior to that, they earned an EMBA in Business from Friends University, where they studied from 1993 to 1995. Joy'searliest educational achievement is a B.A. in Commercial Design, which they obtained from Barton College between 1981 and 1983. In addition to their degrees, Joy Hatch has obtained several certifications throughout their career, including ITIL Foundation from PeopleCert in 2012, and Activity Insight Certification and Workflow Certification from Digital Measures in 2019. Joy has also participated in various education-related activities, such as acting as a Proposal Reviewer for EDUCAUSE in multiple years and serving on the Nominations Committee in 2017.
