Jim Smith has extensive experience in the real estate industry. From 1988 to 2002, they served as the Chief Financial Officer at Realen Properties Inc., overseeing asset management functions for a diversified real estate portfolio. During their tenure, they raised over $150 million of debt and equity for development and construction projects.
From 2002 to 2005, Jim worked at PRG Real Estate as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer. Jim managed the financial and business operations of a multi-entity residential real estate management company and raised over $100 million for development and ongoing operations. Jim also played a key role in designing and implementing a web-based accounting system.
Since 2005, Jim has been working at Campus Apartments as the Executive Vice President and CFO. Jim is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial and business operations of the company, which focuses on student housing. Jim oversees a staff of 28 and manages a real estate portfolio with a combined market value of over $1.2 billion.
Jim Smith attended The Wharton School from 1976 to 1980, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance with a specialization in Accounting. In 1982, they also obtained the certification of Certified Public Accountant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.
