John James (JJ) Hickey has a diverse and extensive work experience in various creative industries. John James (JJ) began their career in 1984 in the theater industry, where they gained experience as a director, choreographer, stage director, writer, producer, and company manager at prestigious theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Massachusetts, and London.
In 1994, Hickey worked as an assistant producer at the Royal National Theater in London. John James (JJ) also worked at the University at Albany, SUNY as an adjunct professor from 1985 to 1987, and at the University of Wisconsin - Baraboo as an adjunct professor in 2005.
Hickey had a role as a director's shadow in network television from 2000 to 2006. John James (JJ) also contributed to the independent film industry as a director starting in 2000.
Prior to their theater career, Hickey worked as a leadership training director at Camp Scatico in 1998.

Currently, their educational pursuit continues at Yale University, where they are enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program for Drama and Dramatics/Theatre Arts.
