Hongyu Su has diverse work experience in various roles related to data science, natural language processing (NLP), and machine learning. Starting in 2009, Su worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Helsinki and as a Research Staff Member at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology. In 2012, Su began their doctoral studies at Aalto University and continued as a Postdoctoral Researcher before becoming a Visiting Researcher.

In 2016, Su joined Nordea, where they held multiple positions. As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer, they led the design and implementation of a real-time transaction screening and monitoring solution. Hongyu was later promoted to Lead Data Scientist in Nordea's Data Science Lab, where they drove the implementation of Nordea Virtual Assistant and other AI solutions in NLP and text analytics. Su then became the Head of Natural Language Processing in Nordea's AI unit, managing a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers with a focus on delivering AI services and solutions across Nordea's business areas.

In 2018, Su co-founded Sense.AI before joining Cambri in 2021 as a Tech Lead in Data Science.

Hongyu Su pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Xidian University from 2003 to 2007. Hongyu then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Helsinki, studying from 2008 to 2010. Following this, they attended Aalto University, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science with a specialization in Machine Learning from 2012 to 2015. During their educational journey, Hongyu Su also participated in several visiting researcher programs, including one at UCL in 2014 and another at Université Laval in the same year. Additionally, they obtained three certifications: "PRACE Parallel Programming" in October 2013, "PRACE Advance Training in GPU Programming" in February 2013, and "PRACE Python in high-performance computing" in April 2014, all from CSC - IT Center for Science.
