Sonya Quick has a wealth of experience in the media and education industries. Sonya began their career in 2000 as a Dance Teacher at The Dance Co. In 2003, they joined The Daily 49er as a Reporter, Editor-in-Chief, and City Editor. Sonya then moved to The News Enterprise in 2004 as an Editor and The Seal Beach Sun in 2003 as an Assistant Editor. In 2005, they joined The Orange County Register as an Infographics, Mobile & Social Editor, and Web Editor. In 2013, they became a Freelance Writer for various companies. In 2014, they began teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Saddleback College, and in 2015 they became an Adjunct Professor at Chapman University. In 2022, they began working at CalMatters as the Director of Membership & Engagement and Membership Manager.
Sonya Quick attended Millikan High School from 1996 to 2000 and then went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Journalism with a minor in English Literature from California State University, Long Beach in 2005.
