Tomoko Kuta currently serves as the Chief Operations and Experience Officer at San Diego Botanic Garden since April 2021, after previously holding the role of Senior Director of Education and Visitor Services. Additionally, Tomoko is a Board Member for the California Association of Museums and a member of Fieldstone Leadership Network San Diego since 2018. With a strong background in museum leadership, Tomoko was the Deputy Museum Director at The New Children's Museum from 2011 to 2021, where contributions included enhancing visitor engagement through program initiatives. Previous positions include Director of Education and Exhibitions for the City of Encinitas and Director of Education at California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Tomoko's earlier career includes roles as Trainer/West Coast Coordinator at VUE - Visual Understanding in Education, Program Representative II at UC San Diego Extension, and Adjunct Instructor at the University of San Diego. Tomoko holds a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago, a Certificate in Japanese Language from Soka University, and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.
