Josette Lewis has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Josette currently works at the Almond Board of California, where they hold the positions of Chief Scientific Officer and Director of Agricultural Affairs. Prior to this, Josette was the Associate Vice President of Agricultural Sustainability at the Environmental Defense Fund. Josette has also served as the Chair of the Finance Committee for the International Life Sciences Research Foundation and the Impact Advisory Committee for the James Beard Foundation. Josette has held positions at the University of California, Davis and Arcadia Biosciences, where they played significant roles in agricultural development and research. Josette has also worked for USAID, serving as the Director of the Office of Agriculture and Senior Biotechnology Advisor. In addition, Josette has experience as an AAAS Science, Technology, and Diplomacy Fellow.
Josette Lewis obtained a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from UCLA between 1988 and 1994. Prior to that, they pursued a B.S. in Genetics from the University of California, Davis from 1984 to 1988.
