Thomas R. Calcagni is a senior partner at the boutique litigation firm of Calcagni & Kanefsky. Thomas has over fifteen years of experience as a litigator, with a focus on criminal, civil, and regulatory investigations and disputes.
Prior to joining Calcagni & Kanefsky, Thomas served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the District of New Jersey from June 2001 to May 2010. In this role, they prosecuted a wide range of cases, including fraud, corruption, and money laundering. Thomas also represented the United States in a number of high-profile cases, such as the prosecution of former New Jersey governor James E. McGreevey.
Thomas has also served as general and special counsel to a number of governmental entities, businesses, and individuals. Thomas has significant experience defending clients against enforcement actions by the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities Exchange Commission, and the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.
In addition to their work as a litigator, Thomas is also a experienced mediator and arbitrator. Thomas is a member of the American Arbitration Association's Commercial Panel and the New Jersey State Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section.
Thomas R. Calcagni holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Seton Hall University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) - Cum Laude from Bowdoin College, where they majored in Biology, Government, & Environmental Studies. Thomas is certified from the New Jersey State Bar and admitted to practice since 1997, and is also certified from the New York State Bar and admitted to practice since 1998.
