Alexa Gutterman is an experienced English and Journalism educator currently serving as a full-time teacher with the NYC Department of Education since September 2018, following a long-term leave replacement role in 8th Grade ELA. Gutterman has also contributed as a student teacher in various middle and high school settings. In addition to teaching, Gutterman has a robust freelance writing portfolio, including roles as a content writer for MomsWhoThink.com, a freelance writer for CafeMom, and a lead parenting writer at Diply since June 2019. Previous positions include English teacher at West Hempstead High School and managing editor at BloomJoy, overseeing multiple digital publications. Gutterman holds a Master of Arts in Secondary English Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies/Journalism, both from Queens College.
